Pre-school Program (Ages 3-5) |
Pike: This level helps children develop safe pool behavior, adjust to the water, and develop independent movement in the water. It is designed for new swimmers, teaching basic paddle strokes and kicking skills, pool safety, and comfort with holding the face in the water while blowing bubbles and swimming. |
Eel: This “advanced beginner” level reinforces Pike skills. It is for children who are comfortable in the water. They are taught to kick, dive, float, and perform the progressive paddle stroke. They also learn basic boating safety. |

Summer camp swim lesson |
This swim lesson group is designed for the children participating in the summer camp program. We will split the children into 3 different levels. The summer camp staff will be responsible for getting your child to the swim lesson and back to summer camp. If you sign your child up for one of the other swim lessons and your child participates in the summer camp program you will be responsible for getting them from summer camp to their swim lesson. |
Youth Program (Ages 6-12) |
Polliwog: This is the beginning level for school age children. It gets children acquainted with the pool, the use of flotation devices, and floating. By the end of this level, they should know the front paddle stroke, and side and back paddle. |
Guppy: The children continue to practice and build upon basic skills, now performing more skills without the aid of a flotation device. They are introduced to the front and back crawl, sidestroke, breastroke, and elementary backstroke. Children can swim a length of the pool without assistance at the end of this level. |
Minnow: This is the “initial intermediate” level.
The children further refine the lead-up strokes they have learned as their skills become more like those normally used in swimming. |
Pre-Competitive: This class has replaced the Fish, Flying Fish & Shark class. Skills to be taught include breaststroke, butterfly, stroke perfection, endurance building, proper dives, and competitive swimming turns. Participants must be at a higher swimming level or have passed our Minnow class. This is an excellent transitional class for the young swimmer to take prior to joining a swim team! |
Adult (Ages 12+) |
Adult: It is never too late to learn to swim or to improve your strokes. Skills taught are water adjustment, front and back float, front and back crawl, personal safety and survival skills and any other skill you would like to learn. Our instructors are patient and understanding. |
