Afterschool Gymnastics Counselor/Instructor

Position Type:             Part-Time

Job Title:                     Afterschool Gymnastics Counselor/Instructor

Position Description: Teach gymnastics to children 5 to 12 years old in our afterschool program. Will supervise children for check in and check out on playground (or designated area). Teach through our all-star recreational gymnastics program.

Qualifications:

  • CPR
  • First Aid
  • Fun and energetic!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead warm-up and gymnastics rotations
  • Responsible for children in gymnastics classes for the full class time
  • Physically spot children in gymnastics skills
  • Work all scheduled Fun Meets and at least one birthday party a month
  • Responsible for daily lesson plans, participant progression sheets, and keeping roll
  • Updating class binders weekly
  • Gym clean-up after class

Group Cycling Instructor

Position Type:             Part-Time

Job Title:                     Group Cycling Instructor

Position Description: Group cycling classes; greet members by name; evaluate, correct, and instruct members on proper exercise techniques; proactively provide appropriate direction to members performing dangerous or harmful exercises; maintain a safe and clean environment for members; design and lead special programs as necessary; assist in planning, coordination, presentation and promotion of programs, classes, and events; respond to emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be CPR, AED, and First Aid certified within 90 days of hire.
  • Identify and explain proper bike setup, riding alignment, and safety considerations.
  • Distinguish basic indoor cycling class techniques and music.
  • Knowledge of basic cycling physiology and body mechanics.
  • Identify various cycle related injuries and describe how to avoid them.
  • Positive and effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Group exercise certification required .i.e... ACE, ACSM, AFAA, etc

Responsibilities:

  • Arrive at class location 5 to 10 minutes ahead of scheduled start time to be available to interact with members, answer questions, inquire about their fitness progress, introduce and orient new participants. Group Exercise Instructors should know their participants on an individual basis and have a good sense of their fitness capabilities.
  • Clothing should be appropriate fitness attire. It should not prohibit participants from seeing proper form, alignment and movement of the body. However, clothing should not be revealing in an inappropriate manner. Proper footwear should be worn at all times.
  • Prepare appropriate music for class. Refrain from using music with offensive language.
  • Introduce yourself and the format of the class.
  • Inquire if there are any "first-timers" in the group and if so, assess their fitness level in as private a manner as possible.
  • Make sure all verbal instructions are clear and that the volume, tempo of music and overall atmosphere is conducive to hearing, teaching, learning and having fun.
  • Continually monitor participants to ensure all participants are using correct form. Offer variations of the routine to accommodate all fitness levels.
  • Create a motivational and fun environment for all participants.
  • Remove all music and return to proper place.
  • Record number of participants on Head Count Log.
  • Make sure room is in order for the next class to begin.
  • Answer any questions/concerns participants may have.
  • Solicit feedback from participants about the class.
